Billy J. Hughes , age 56 of Elwood, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis following numerous health complications.  He was born September 19, 1967 in Fort Wayne, the son of Billy E. and Virginia B. (Martin) Hughes.  Billy worked in production at ELSA Corporation in Elwood for 14 years and retired due to health issues.  He married Jana Marie Pratt on November 25, 2015, and they shared nearly 8 years of marriage together.  Billy lived a very simple life; enjoyed watching westerns on television; and formerly using his riding lawn mower.

Billy's family includes his wife, Jana of Elwood; son, Christopher (Regina) Bergfeld, Sr. of Elwood; 3 siblings, Crickat West, Tony Hughes, and Brenda Greenwell all of Pampa, TX; 3 grandchildren, Christopher, Jr., Kylee, and Regina; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.  Billy was preceded in death by his parents and son, Stacey Hughes.
