Beulah L. Gardner , of Tipton and formerly a longtime resident of Elwood, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton after a long, full life. She was born in Lee County, Virginia, the daughter of William M. and Rosa A. (Holmes) Oliver. Beulah formerly worked at the Beatty Quick Wash laundromat in Elwood for 34 years and retired in 2005. She married James J. "Jim" Gardner on June 22, 1946 and they shared 43 years of marriage together before his passing in 1989. Beulah was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Elwood where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years and enjoyed helping with vacation bible school. During the later years of their married life, Beulah and Jim enjoyed socializing at the Elwood Elks Lodge. Beulah especially loved working with her flower garden, and she loved her sons and husband to pieces.
Beulah's family legacy includes a son, Alexander J. "Zane" (wife Carmen) Gardner of Zaragoza, Spain; grandson, Daniel A. (wife Carmen) Gardner of Zaragoza, Spain; two great-grandchildren, Alejandro and Luisa Gardner of Zaragoza, Spain; family friend and caretaker, Alice Humel Denton of Tipton; and several nieces and nephews. Beulah was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Shane Gardner who died in 1964; and four sisters, Thelma Seward, Ruth Blair, Margaret Costello, and Norma Harget.
Zane thanks Dr. Robert Helm and his staff, Dr. Chad Feldman and his staff, and the staff at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton for their kind care of Beulah.
A graveside funeral service commemorating Beulah's life will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Elwood City Cemetery with Pastor Roberta Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.
