Waymire
May 26, 1930 — Feb 7, 2017
Betty Lou Waymire, age 86 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood following a brief illness. She was born May 26, 1930 in Anderson, the daughter of Gerald and Pauline (Miller) Elder. Betty last worked at Living Word Church in Frankfort, and had formerly co-owned Waymire TV Sales and Service in Elwood until selling the business in 1986. Betty was a 1948 graduate of Anderson high school where she met the love of her life, Edward D. Waymire, when his band performed at a dance. They were married on May 29, 1948, and shared over 60 years of marriage together. Betty was a member of the Living Word Church in Frankfort, and formerly a member of Heartland Ministries in Sharpsville. She enjoyed trips to Gatlinburg, Tennessee for camping with her family and shopping. Betty was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Pacers and followed them closely. She also enjoyed quilting – often gifting many of her quilts, and dining out with family and friends. Betty especially loved her dog, "Peanut" and her cat, "Walker".
Betty's family includes son, Timothy A. (wife Lisa) Waymire of Elwood; 3 grandchildren, Joshua (husband Jason) Waymire of Indianapolis, Benjamin Waymire of Elwood, and April (husband Chris) Hawthorn of Georgia; 3 great-grandchildren, Glenn Hawthorn, Morgan Hawthorn, and Megan Hawthorn; and a niece, Sharon Whitaker. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward D. Waymire in 2008; son, David Waymire in 2011; and nephew, Mike Bryant.
Betty's wishes were to be cremated with no visitation or services. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Madison County Humane Society or the Wounded Warrior Project (PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517). Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Online expressions of condolence may be made at copherfeslermay.com.
