Obituary

Betty Anne Hoffman, age 85 of Richmond and formerly of Arcadia, died Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Friends Fellowship Community in Richmond where she had resided since 2011. She was born July 14, 1928 in Princeton, the daughter of Dr. Leland and Agnes (Finley) Trippett. Betty obtained her Indiana Real Estate Broker's license in 1977, and taught briefly at Walnut Grove School in Hamilton County. She graduated from Cloverdale High School and attended Purdue University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics in 1950. She married Richard Hoffman of Greencastle in 1949. They moved to Elwood in 1952 where they raised their family. Betty was a 60-year member and Elder of East Main Street Christian Church; a member of Tri Kappa Sorority; and a 4-H leader for many years. In 1983 she and Richard relocated to their farm in White River Township in Hamilton County. Betty's hobbies included reading, playing bridge, painting, and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and their families.

Betty's family includes her husband of more than 64 years, Richard Hoffman of Richmond; 3 children, Jeffrey (wife Carole) Hoffman of Overland Park, KS, Jerry (wife Amy) Hoffman of Richmond, and Ann (husband Dan) Hoffman-Ruffner of West Chester, OH; 4 grandchildren, Kathleen (husband Austin) Wagner of Danville, PA, Michael (wife April) Hoffman of Lenexa, KS, Andrew (fiancé Sierra) Hoffman of Terre Haute, and Kate Ruffner of Cincinnati, OH; 2 great-grandchildren, Lucy Wagner and Julia Hoffman; and 2 cousins Karen (husband Bob) Ruble and Bob ( wife Doris) Ervin. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Roger Gardner of the East Main Street Christian Church officiating. A private burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery in Greencastle, Indiana. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
