Bessie M. Samuels, age 94 of Anderson and formerly of Elwood, died Friday, December 30, 2011 at Community Northview Care Center in Anderson following an extended illness. She was born January 23, 1917 in Elwood the daughter of James and Lula (Boyd) Kleyla. She retired in 1972 from Delco Remy in Anderson where she worked in production for many years. She attended beauty college and formerly worked at the National Tile Company for several years. She was a member of the Fall Creek Christian Church in Pendleton. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her extended family.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews including a very special niece – Mary and husband Charles Toppin of Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings – Blanche Shallenberger, Dora Long, Roy Kleyla, Alice Minch, Wilma Acre, Bill Kleyla, and Sherman Kleyla.

A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Elwood City Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Tom Wiles of the Fall Creek Christian Church and Chaplain Tim Stigers of Southern Care Hospice officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.
