Bennie L. Mountcastle , age 69 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away Monday, August 19, 2024 at Ascension-St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after an extended illness.  He was born Sept. 22, 1954 in Elwood, the son of Robert and Lucille (Wilson) Mountcastle.  Bennie retired in 2014 at the Street Commissioner for the City of Elwood where he worked for 16 years.  He formerly worked for Goodman Wire Co. in Alexandria for many years.  Bennie married Alice Richards on Jan. 21, 1995, and they shared over 29 years of marriage together.  He enjoyed fishing and watching the Indianapolis Colts.  Bennie's memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

Bennie's family includes his wife, Alice Mountcastle of Elwood; son, Jason Faulkenberry (Penny Romine) of Kempton; step-daughter, Malinda (Ross) Vannatter-Gates of Muncie; grandson, Austin Faulkenberry; 4 siblings, Tom Mountcastle, Ronnie Mountcastle, Carolyn (Richard) Ehman, and Ruth Mountcastle; and several nieces and nephews.  Bennie was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Carolyn Mountcastle.

Per Bennie's wishes, no funeral services are planned.  Cremation will take place.  The family invites others to celebrate Bennie in their own special way - he will be with everyone in spirit.  Memorial contributions are suggested to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home to assist the family with unexpected expenses.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
