Benjamin "Frank" Haynes , age 72 of Elwood and Lake Forest, California, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born April 19, 1953 in Elwood, the son of Holder Eugene and Ocie Marcella (Thomslison) Haynes. Frank attended Elwood Schools and enlisted in the United States Marines. He proudly served during Vietnam from 1971 to 1977 while stationed at Tustin Marine Base in California. After obtaining his CDL's in the Marines, he began his career of driving a semi. Frank liked to shoot his guns, go fishing, and spend time with his grandchildren. He found great peace taking long rides on his Harley Davidson. More than anything, Frank will be remembered as a man who loved his family and the simplicities of life.
Frank is survived by his significant other of 37 years, Kathy Cole of Lake Forest, CA; 5 children, Jennifer (Sonny) Pai of Lake Charles, LA, Nathan Haynes of CA, Chris Haynes (Melissa Mammenga) of CA, Jason (Angie) Cole of Lake Forest, CA, and Heather Harrison of Lake Forest, CA; 7 grandchildren, Kaitlyn Haynes, Jacob Cole, Jonah Cole, Watson Harrison, Shaun Tucker, Savannah Tucker, and Hunter Tucker; 5 sisters, Kay LaShure, Bonnie Jean Howe, Patricia Carter, Ruth Young, and Carolyn Greene; and several nieces and nephews. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, and numerous brothers and sisters.
Frank's wishes were to be cremated and have no formal services. Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood is honored to handle Frank's arrangements. Online condolences and stories may be shared at copherfeslermay.com.
