Beatrice Fern Dickey , age 83 of Florida and formerly of Elwood, passed away Nov. 7, 2023 at Vitas Healthcare in Rockledge, Florida after an extended illness.  She was born Jan. 4, 1940 in Marion, the daughter of Robert L. and Emma Bea (Hunt) Detamore.  Bea was a 1958 graduate of Marion High School.  She married Donald J. Dickey on Jan. 10, 1975, and they shared over 35 years of marriage together until his passing in 2010.

Bea formerly worked at Marsh Supermarket in Marion for several years and enjoyed daily interaction with the customers.  She was a member of Phi Chi Epsilon Sorority in Fairmount.  Bea formerly attended the United Methodist Church and was a member of Custer's Last Stand knitting club.  She also enjoyed quilting, reading, and embroidery.  Don and Bea spent many winters in Sierra Vista, Arizona, and in recent years she enjoyed living in Florida close to her daughters.

Bea's family includes 2 daughters, Janice E. (Scott) Chesney of Melbourne, FL and Trina L. Bruegge of Rockledge, FL; 3 step-children, Steven R. Dickey of Elwood, Susan E. Dickey of Fishers, and Brian J. Dickey of Summitville; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.  Bea was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Dickey; brother, William Hawkins; and son-in-law, Bruce Bruegge.

A funeral service celebrating Beatrice's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 at Copher-Fesler-May funeral Home in Elwood with family friend, Pastor Bob McHenry officiating.  Burial will follow in Forrestville Cemetery in rural Summitville.  Visitiation will be from 11 am to 1 pm on Saturday prior to the funeral at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
