Barbara J. Vigue, age 78 of Elwood and formerly of Englewood, Florida, died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Community Parkview Care Center in Elwood following an extended illness. She was born on July 24, 1933 in Carroll County, Indiana – the daughter of Ross and Hazel (Beighler) Vanmeter. She worked in retail jewelry sales at K-Mart as a department manager in Florida for many years, and she retired in 1995. She was a 1951 graduate of Burlington High School, and married Donald L. Vigue on December 12, 1952. She was a member of the Englewood United Methodist Church in Englewood, Florida. She loved jewelry and making crafts. She and her husband enjoyed living in Florida for over 30 years, and she was very active in the Democrat political party. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family – especially her beloved great-granddaughter.
Barbara is survived by son, Jeff L. Vigue of Elwood; daughter, Beth Lynn (husband Wayne) Carter of Bradenton, FL; 2 grandchildren, Kelly Carter and Cara (husband Charles) Witt; great-granddaughter, Madison Lynn Witt; special niece, Tina (husband Allen) Irwin of Gafney, SC; and special family members, Mark Altec and Bill Altec.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 38 years, Donald L. Vigue; brother, Bud Vanmeter; sister, Betty Jane Achor; daughter-in-law, Stacey M. Vigue; and 2 nieces, Sandy and Peggy.
