Barbara K. Ramey , age 84 of Elwood, passed went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Elwood Health & Living after an extended illness. She was born February 9, 1938 in Hobbs, the daughter of Robert and Blanche (Shockney) Lewellen. Barbara was a 1956 graduate of Windfall High School and later attended flight attendant school for one year. She married the love of her life, James W. Ramey on January 20, 1957, and they shared over 48 years of marriage together before his passing in 2005. Barb enjoyed being a homemaker most of her life, and was devoted to caring for her family. She was a loyal member of the Zion Chapel Church in Elwood where she was a Sunday School teacher for 40 years and served as Missionary President for 12 years at the church.
Barb was a charter member of the Movin' On Home Extension Club in Elwood. She enjoyed painting utilizing Bob Ross techniques and also enjoyed working with crafts. Despite memory issues later in life, she always retained fond memories of spending time at the apple orchard with her grandfather. More than anything, Barb's family was the joy of her life. Her family finds comfort knowing that she and Jim are reunited in Heaven for eternity.
Barb's family legacy includes 3 children, James C. (Diane) Ramey, Matthew E. (Nannette) Ramey, and Lori K. Butler all of Elwood; 10 grandchildren, Tammy Ramey, Isaiah Ramey, James Andrew Ramey, Elijah Ramey, Sunshine, Wright, Ross Allen Bucci, Ashley Heffernan, Heather Griffith, Misty Capps, and Shaylon Butler; 15 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members. Barb was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James W. Ramey; and son-in-law, Terry Butler.
A funeral service celebrating Barbara's life will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Amos Carmichael of Zion Chapel Church officiating. Burial will follow in Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the funeral on Wednesday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
