Obituary

Barbara A. "Nanny" Clark, age 71 of Elwood, died peacefully Friday, September 14, 2012 surrounded by her family at her residence in Elwood following an extended illness. She was born January 13, 1941 in Elwood, the daughter of Everett and Sylvia (Smith) Goens. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and homemaker all of her life. She married Rexie L. Clark on July 12, 1958, and he survives. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Elwood and also attended the Southside Community Church in Elwood. Nanny was a member of the Elwood T.O.P.S. fitness club and the Elwood Home-Economics Club. She enjoyed cooking for her family, crocheting, and spending time with her family – especially all her grandchildren.

Her family includes husband of 54 years, Rexie L. Clark of Elwood; 4 children, Bennett J. (wife Christy Jones) Clark of Elwood, Connie (husband Harold) Heater of Elwood, Tom (wife April Foor) Clark of Tipton, and Roxie (husband Rob) Fred of Elwood; 2 brothers, Thomas (wife Vickie) Goens of Elwood and George (wife Julie) Goens of Brownsburg; 15 grandchildren, Audra Clark, Amber Clark, Landon Caldwell, Lauren Caldwell, Kaitlin Clark, Logan Caldwell, Alicia Smith, D.J. Smith, Megan (husband Nate) Warren, Melissa (husband Mark) Passmore, Caleb Clark, Jessica Clark, Hope "Chuck" Fred, Jackie (wife Jessica) Idlewine, and T.C. (wife Abbie) Heater; 10 great-grandchildren, Bennett Fife, Kole Hobbs, Drake Clark, Darek Clark, Makenzie Weaver, Malachi Jones, Taylor Jones, Mattie Rains, J.T. Warren, and Noah Warren; and several special nieces and nephews.

Nanny was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Goens; sister, Rosalene (Goens) Childress; grandson, Chad E. Clark; great-grandson, Zak T. Clark; and nephew, Everette "Buddy" Childress.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Marvin Hahn officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkins Cemetery in Tipton County. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 PM on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.
