Obituary

Barbara Jo McClintock , age 82 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis after a sudden illness.  She was born August 31, 1940 in Elwood, the daughter of Raymond and Martha (Copeland) Downham.  Barbara was a 1958 graduate of Wendell L. Willkie High School.  Barbara was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwod.  She married Robert "Bob" McClintock, Jr. on January 1, 1979, and they shared 43 years of marriage together.  Barb retired from Guide Lamp Division of General Motors in Anderson in 1995 after 32 years of service.  After retiring, she and Bob built a home and lived in Las Vegas, Nevada for 28 years to enjoy the warmer climate before returning to Indiana.  In Las Vegas, they enjoyed shows, casinos, and dining with friends and family.  Barbara especially enjoyed baking and cooking for her family and simply spending time with them.  She also enjoyed watching sports – especially the Indianapolis Colts, and formerly spending time at the lakes with her family.  Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love and family who will cherish her memory.

Barbara's combined family includes 6 children, Susan Dunaway of Elwood, Debbie Aldrich of Port. St. Lucie, Florida, Tammy (Tom) Grondin of Elwood, David (Debbie) Carper of Las Vegas, NV, Lori Archer of Indianapolis, and Bobby McClintock of Anderson; 8 grandchildren, T.J. (Abbey) Grondin, Jillian (Chris) Shelton, Salina (Ryan) Hinrichs, Darla Carper, Amanda Carper, Tyler Archer, Krista (Brent) Scott, and Joseph (Emily) Grondin; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Barbara was preceded in death by both her parents; 3 siblings, William Wilson, John Downham, and Carolyn King; and son-in-law, Daniel Dunaway.
