Barbara Ann Jones, age 88, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Elwood Health and Living after an extended illness. Born on June 25, 1938, in Tipton, she was the daughter of William P. and Delmas Jo (Dinkins) Orr. Barbara graduated from Tipton High School in 1956. She married the love of her life, Samuel Charles Jones, on March 15, 1957, and they shared over 51 wonderful years of marriage together until his passing in 2009. Barbara retired from Delco Radio after more than 15 years on the assembly line. She was a dedicated member of the First Methodist Church in Elwood. Barbara's greatest joy was spending time with her family and loved ones. She cherished summers at Barbie Lake, traveling with those she held dear, crafting with friends, and attending local craft festivals. Her love for her family and the special moments they shared was at the heart of her life.
Barbara is survived by her 2 sons, Jeffrey Scott (Joyce Roberts) Jones of Elwood, and Brian (Michelle) Jones of Elwood; 8 grandchildren, Briana (Jake) Deck, Ty (Alexis) Jones, Ashlyn Jones, Jacob Jones, Darren (Amy) Jones, Drake Mengelt, Stephen LaMont, Calib Nelson; 9 great-grandchildren, Addilyn McPhearson, Renley Deck, Riley Deck, Jayden Jones, Lucas Jones, Ava Jones, Jacob Jones, Jr., Nyjah Jones, and Ashtyn Jones; brother, Ron Thomas of Florida; devoted special friend, Larry Gunn of Elwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Jennifer LaMont; daughter-in-law, Brenda Jones; and sister, Catherine Roselyn Yeary.
Per Barbara’s wishes, a graveside funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Elwood City Mausoleum with Pastor Wynn Stenftenagel of the First United Methodist Church in Elwood officiating. Entombment will follow in the Elwood City Mausoleum. Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home is honored to handle Barbara’s funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Elwood. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at copherfeslermay.com.
