Arpie Jackson, age 74 of Elwood, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2017 at her residence following declining health. She was born January 7, 1943 in Lambric, Kentucky, the daughter of Bud Clemons and Polly (Ritchie) Jackson. Arpie worked for Hamilton Heights School Corporation in the cafeteria for over 15 years and retired in 1992. She was a former member of the Central Wesleyan Church in Elwood. Arpie married Wendell W. Jackson on November 6, 1965, and they shared over 42 years of marriage together until his passing on October 21, 2008. She was a member of the V.F.W Ladies Auxiliary. Arpie enjoyed caring for family, cooking, and took great pride in caring for her home. She also formerly enjoyed crocheting. More than anything, Arpie loved spending time with all her family – and especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Arpie's family includes 3 sons, Mark A. Clemons of Elwood, Stephen W. (wife Kim) Jackson of Fort Wayne, and Jerry E. Jackson of Elwood; 3 sisters, Jennie (husband Terry) Crull of Frankton, Carrie (husband Ed) Cox of Kokomo, and Treva Duncan of Elwood; 7 grandchildren, Nick Depaolo, Morgan Clemons, Kattie-Jo York, Justin Jackson, Garrett Jackson, Blake Jackson, and Owen Jackson; 4 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Steve Simmons of Chesterfield; and several nieces and nephews. Arpie was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Wendell W. Jackson; step-father, Ralph "Buck" Jackson; 2 sisters, Myrtle Hunt, and Helen Simmons.; and brother-in-law, Mark Duncan.
A funeral service celebrating Arpie's life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Matt Miller, former pastor of Central Wesleyan Church in Elwood, officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery in Elwood. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary or the Central Wesleyan Church through the funeral home.
