Obituary

Ardith Kay Hunt, age 83 and a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her family following an extended illness.  She was born April 21, 1936 in Elwood, the daughter of Othal and Frances (Young) Leever.  Kay was a homemaker most of her life, and she loved caring for her large family.  She also formerly worked at Ray Brothers Canning Company and operated a rummage sale business at her home in South Elwood for over 40 years, which she enjoyed very much.  Kay grew up in South Elwood, and was a former member of the Elwood Church of God on 3 rd Street.  She married Paul E. Hunt on December 26, 1952 and shared over 33 years together before his passing in 1986.  She loved to crochet and was known for having an outstanding memory – remembering dates and events with ease.  She always kept detailed ledgers and records every year for her rummage sale business, and she was extremely organized.  Kay especially enjoyed taking her children and grandchildren to the movies on a regular basis.  She will be remembered as an exceptionally kind, loving, and generous person who had a deep, abiding faith in God.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kay's family includes her 3 children, David M. Hunt, Tim R. (wife Penny) Hunt, and Bryant Hunt all of Elwood; 7 grandchildren, Lindy (husband Sullivan) Lane, Sabrina Cline, Jamie Cline, Jason Maddox, Kara Hunt, Margaret (husband Tony) Thornberry, and Rachel Hunt-Larkin; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-grandchild due at any time; and several nieces and nephews.  Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul E. Hunt in 1986; son, Paul L. Hunt; daughter, Paula Cline; and 5 siblings, Othal "Sam" Leever, Merrill Leever, Kenneth Leever, Juanita Tuggle, and Herbert Leever.

A Life Celebration funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with their former pastor, Rev. Jim Morrisett, officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Elwood.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm prior to the funeral on Wednesday at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G.
