Anita J. Hobbs , age 80 of Frankton, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024 at Elwood Health & Living after a well-lived life. She was born April 23, 1943 in Elwood, the daughter of Jack and Frances (Flora) Sigler. Anita was a 1960 graduate of Frankton High School and then furthered her education at Fort Wayne International Business College. As a child, Anita was the first person in the state of Indiana to undergo scoliosis surgery at the young age of 11. She worked for many years in administration. Anita had a deep faith in the Lord and attended numerous churches with her friends as a traveling evangelist. She was currently a member of Glad Tidings Church in Muncie. Anita was one of the cofounders of the CEDA Program in Elwood. She enjoyed reading, making hook and latch rugs, and especially enjoyed decorating for the Christmas season. Anita had a caregiver's heart and would help anyone in need. More than anything, Anita cherished spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Anita's family includes son, Randall (wife Lisa) Hobbs of Elwood; daughter, Debbie (husband Brent) Tilson of Noblesville; 4 grandchildren, Amy Wood of Tipton, Brandon (wife Courtney) Wood of Kokomo, Ashley Scoles of Kettering, OH, and Daniel Hobbs of Elwood; 4 siblings, Barbara June of Bradenton, FL, Mark (wife DeeDee) Sigler of Frankton, Thomas (wife Paula) Sigler of Hernando, FL, and Ronald (Debbie) Sigler of Austin, TX; 5 great-grandchildren, Elijah McCartney, Madison McCartney, Rhyan Jones, Rileigh Scoles, and Hunter Hobbs; and several nieces and nephews. Anita was preceded in death by her parents and special friend, Clifford Payne.
A funeral celebrating Anita's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Scott Blaylock of Life Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 1 pm on Monday prior to the service at Copher-Fesler-May funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Elwood F.O.P. Lodge #82 Cops and Kids Program through the funeral home. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
