Obituary

Allison Marcella Gordon , age 14 of Elwood, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019 in Elwood.  She was born October 29, 2004 in Anderson, the daughter of Michael T. "Mike" Gordon and Tani H. Redmond.  Allison was currently a freshman at Elwood Junior-Senior High School in the Class of 2023, where she excelled in school.  She loved art and drawing, and was passionate about music.  Like most teenagers, she enjoyed socializing with her friends through social networking on Facebook and Instagram.  Allison was an extremely creative person who was friendly to everyone.  She was a member and attended the Victory Baptist Church in Elwood where she strengthened her faith in the Lord and enjoyed the music during worship services.  She also especially loved purple flowers of all kinds and enjoyed spending time with her two special nieces – Rowen and Layla.  Our hearts are broken, shattered, destroyed.  In April of this year, the family experienced the loss of Allison's 25-year old cousin, Troy, who passed away in an automobile accident.  Now we experience the loss of our precious Allison Marcella at the age of 14.  It is true – only love can break a heart.

The world was cheated of yet another great potential.   Such a tragedy - such a loss!  Allison was frustrated at the world for being as it is.  She was idealistic.  She protested hatred.  She was concerned about animals.  She was an artist.  She sang.  She laughed.  She loved painting and made the world a better place.  Most of all, she loved her Savior, Jesus Christ.  Like most teenagers, she struggled, not knowing really how deep any one of her classmates might be suffering.  We will have a little more compassion, a little more empathy, and more understanding about the power and the heartache of growing up in this world today as a teenager.  We know Allison was unique. She was such a sassy and sweet child — so independent with such a big vocabulary.  She was a challenging child, a precocious adolescent.  She was witty, smart, pretty, beautiful, and loving.  She will be greatly missed.

Allison's family includes her father, Mike T. Gordon of Elwood; mother, Tani H. Redmond (companion Eric Blair) both of Middletown, OH; siblings, Ashley Herron of Elwood, Brent-Todd Herron of Ohio, and Cody Blair of Ohio; maternal grandparents, Bill & Susan Lagoni of Lake City, FL; aunts and uncles, Sandra (Randy) Amick, Scott Gordon, Tina Gordon, Joey (Jodie) Gordon, Jill Johnson, David (Gina) Redmond, Tone (Serena) Redmond, and Tune Redmond; 2 special nieces, Rowen and Layla; and numerous extended family members.  Allison was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Marcella Gordon; and a cousin, Troy Redmond.

Following cremation, a memorial service honoring Allison's life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Elwood with Pastor Ben Schoettle of Victory Baptist Church officiating.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the memorial at the church on Saturday.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood.  Memorial contributions may be to assist the family with unexpected funeral expenses, and a Go-Fund-Me account has been established entitled "Allison Marcella Gordon Funeral Fund (Elwood, IN).
