Obituary

Alice Kate Bedwell , age 98 of Elwood, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024 at The Waters of Chesterfield following a long, well-lived life.  She was born Feb. 16, 1925 in Frankton, the daughter of Berlin and Abby (Anderson) Rogers and was the youngest of 6 children.  Alice was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Elwood and most recently enjoyed her visits from Chesterfield Church of God.  She married Al Bedwell on July 8, 1982 and they shared over 13 years of marriage together until his passing in 1996.  Alice was a hard worker who was always focused on expansion and improvement in her mind.  She worked at Danner's as a clerk; Aroma telephone company as an operator; Murphy's as an office assistant, and then in production at Johns Manville.  While working at Johns Manville, she saved up her money to open up her own small grocery store in the Aroma community.  Alice took great pride in being the primary caregiver for her parents.  Following retirement, Alice and Al moved to Tennessee and lived on a lake where they loved to fish together.  After Al's passing, Alice moved back home to live in Elwood.  In recent years, she enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching old westerns, and making latch-hook items.  Alice's family finds comfort and peace knowing that she is reunited in Heaven with all of her loved ones.

Alice's was a loving aunt to several nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Al Bedwell; and 5 siblings, Audrey McCord, Russell Rogers, Owen Rogers, Robert Rogers, and Ralph Rogers.

A funeral service celebrating Alice's life will be conducted at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2024 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Becky Fauntleroy of the Chesterfield Church of God officiating.  Burial will follow the funeral in Elwood City Cemetery.  Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am to 12 pm prior to the funeral on Wednesday at the funeral home.   Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.copherfeslermay.com.
